Dr. Hasan was born and raised in New York City and obtained his bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from Cornell University. He continued his medical education at the State University of New York – Stony Brook School of Medicine and received his M.D. degree with Honors. Dr. Hasan completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Hospital for Joint Diseases at New York University School of Medicine and then completed a combined fellowship in Orthopedic and Neurosurgical Spinal Surgery at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Hasan is the first fellowship trained full-endoscopic spine surgeon in the United States; he completed an advanced minimally-invasive and endoscopic spine surgery fellowship in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Washington Seattle and is fully trained in the use of endoscopic techniques for the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. Dr. Hasan is currently a practicing board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon and Chief of Spine Surgery at Golden State Orthopedics and Spine in the San Francisco Bay Area. Dr. Hasan has a clinical research focus on motion preservation, minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgical techniques and has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications, scientific abstracts and textbook chapters and serves as a reviewer for several journals in spine surgery and orthopaedics. He is a founding member of the Endoscopic Spine Research Group (ESRG) as well as the International Spinal Educational Research Foundation (iSERF).
