Amer F. Samdani, MD is Clinical Professor (Adjunct) of Neurological Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA, and Chief of Staff at Shriners Children’s Philadelphia. Dr. Samdani is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He completed his undergraduate degree with honors at Columbia University, New York, NY, and earned his medical degree at Johns Hopkins Medical School, Baltimore, MD. He completed neurosurgery residency training at Johns Hopkins and a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Samdani was awarded the Edgar Dawson Traveling Fellowship by the Scoliosis Research Society and the Scoliosis Research Society Traveling Fellowship. Dr. Samdani has coedited 3 textbooks and has coauthored 49 book chapters and over 300 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He serves on the Board and Executive Committee for the Setting Scoliosis Straight Foundation and Executive Committee of the Children’s Spine Study Group. He leads the Shrine Spine Surgeons group, consisting of spine surgeons from Shriners Children's researching various topics in the treatment of spine deformity. Dr. Samdani’s clinical interests include complex pediatric spine deformity (particularly fusionless treatments for scoliosis) and neuromuscular disease.
