    Maria Valentina Suarez-Nieto, B.S, is a medical student at Stanford School of Medicine from Villavicencio, Colombia, and Miami, FL. Her research aims to optimize treatment modalities for surgical spine patients with osteoporosis under the mentorship of Dr. Corinna Zygourakis. As a research scientist before medical school, she worked on genome-edited stem cell transplantation for CNS disorders. Maria graduated from Stanford in 2021 with a B.S. in Neuroscience and minors in Data Science and Human Rights. Her interests include quality improvement and health equity in neurosurgery.
