Dr. Diego Soto-Rubio is a Spine Research Fellow at Tampa General Hospital and the University of South Florida. He earned his Medical Degree at the Universidad de Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico, and completed his Neurosurgery Residency at Centro Médico Nacional Siglo XXI, affiliated with the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in Mexico City.
He completed a 10-month Neurosurgery Research Fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Ali Baaj and Dr. Peter Nakaji at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. He subsequently joined the University of South Florida under the leadership of Dr. Puya Alikahni. There, he conducts research focused on spine conditions, complex spine surgery, clinical outcomes improvement, and novel surgical technologies and techniques.
Dr. Soto-Rubio is fluent in both Spanish and English and is skilled in project management. He is dedicated to advancing neurosurgery through knowledge, innovation, and discipline. Colleagues describe him as capable, motivated, and decisive.
