Medical Student
University of Arizona - Tucson
My name is Diego Garcia and I am a third year medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson. I was born in Mexico and raised in a small border town in Arizona, where I had the opportunity to grow up in a bicultural and bilingual community. I studied Physics at the University of Notre Dame, where I also engaged in several service projects. The most notable of these was a gap year service position at a charity clinic in South Bend, IN where I worked as a medical assistant, volunteer coordinator, front desk receptionist and medical interpreter at the clinic. I have built on this experience by running my medical school's largest student-run clinic during my first year. I strive to match into orthopedics residency and work in an academic hospital where I may mentor future surgeons, conduct research, and serve diverse, underserved communities.
