Health Services Researcher

Dr. Nelson is a health services researcher with particular interest in predictive analytics and harnessing "big data" to identify best practices in health care. He holds a PhD from the Department of Public Health Studies at the University of Chicago and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in medical research at the Stanford University School of Medicine. He is a PA with board certification in surgery and postgraduate training and experience in family and emergency medicine. Dr. Nelson completed a career as a medical officer with the US Army culminating in service as a senior adviser and innovator at the US Army Office of the Surgeon General. Since retirement from the Army, he has continued to work with big data under affiliations with multiple academic institutions and the Department of Defense.
