Maya Toothman, B.S., is a second-year medical student at University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, FL. She is from Atlanta, GA where she graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a major in Neuroscience and minor in Biomedical Engineering.
She has always been drawn to the field of Neurosurgery, and is particularly interested in Vasular Neurosurgery, Neurosurgical Oncology, and spine disorders.
In 2025, Maya has collaborated with the Department of Neurosurgery at Tampa General Hospital towards several projects presented at Spine Summit, including her poster titled "Time is of the Essence: Understanding Surgical Times for Endoscopic and Minimally Invasive Spine Procedures". This project is focused on the realistic integration of advanced surgical techniques, and specically investigates the time efficiency of endosopic techniques in laminectomies and discectomies.
