Ziam Khan is a first-year medical student at the University of Maryland. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), Ziam worked for two years in the Westlake Lab at the NCI as an Intramural Research Training Award Fellow. Ziam's research at the NCI involved the analysis of 3D Focused Ion Beam Scanning Electron Microscopy (FiB-SEM) data to study the process of ciliogenesis. Ziam is currently a member of Dr. Alex Ksendovsky's lab in the Department of Neurosurgery where he works on unraveling the complex molecular mechanisms underlying epilepsy.
