Dr. John Caridi is a highly accomplished, fellowship-trained, board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in the intricate art of spinal reconstruction. His expertise encompasses a wide spectrum of complex cervical, thoracic, and lumbar conditions in both adults and children. Dr. Caridi is particularly renowned for his work with spinal tumors and deformities, including kyphosis, scoliosis, and chin-on-chest/ear-on-shoulder deformities. He also addresses the full range of degenerative spinal issues that contribute to neck and back pain.
Beyond these specialized areas, Dr. Caridi's surgical proficiency extends to complex reconstructive procedures for congenital and degenerative joint and disc disease, spinal trauma, revision spine surgery, and the resection and stabilization of spinal cancers. He is also highly skilled in minimally invasive spine surgery and microsurgery.
A recognized leader in his field, Dr. Caridi has been a principal investigator in numerous studies on major spinal deformities, presenting his research nationally and internationally, and publishing extensively in peer-reviewed journals. His dedication to advancing the field earned him the prestigious Scoliosis Research Society International Traveling Fellowship in 2019. He has held prominent leadership positions, including directing the neurosurgical spinal deformity program at Mount Sinai and serving as Chief of the Neurosurgical Spine Division and Associate Professor at UTHealth Houston, where he was recognized as Educator of the Year in 2021. Most recently, Dr. Caridi returned to New York City in 2023 as Associate Professor of Neurosurgery and Director of Northwell's Western Region for Neurosurgery Spine. Further demonstrating his commitment to comprehensive patient care and healthcare leadership, he also earned an MBA from Columbia University and the London Business School.
Dr. Caridi champions a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to patient care, working closely with neurologists, physiatrists, physical therapists, chiropractors, and pain management specialists to ensure each patient receives holistic and individualized treatment for their spinal needs.
