    Alecio C. Barcelos, MD

    Dr. Alécio Barcelos, PhD., MSc, is neurosurgeon at Hospital Metropolitano de João Pessoa (Brazil) and Head of INEURO (Instituto de Neurocirurgia e Cirurgia da Coluna) in the city of João Pessoa, Brazil. Dr. Barcelos is the Chair of the Spine Section of the Brazilian Neurosurgery Society (2023-2024) and
    Member of the Continued Education Committee of the Brazilian Neurosurgery Society. Dr. Barcelos has many years of experience and expertise in spinal disorders such as degenerative diseases, spinal trauma and tumors and adult deformities.

    Dr. Barcelos attended medical school at the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP) - Botucatu Medical School (2004), completed his residency in Neurosurgery at Hospital do Servidor Publico de São Paulo (IAMSPE-2009), where he also concluded his Master in Science (2009) and PhD (2016). He is certified by the Brazilian Neurosurgery Society (SBN) and Brazilian Spine Society (SBC). He is also certified as AOSpine Faculty. He attended as observer fellow at Center for Spine Health - Cleveland Clinic (2012). He had been Head of the Spine Division of Hospital de Emergência e Trauma Senador Humberto Lucena for seven years.
