Dr. Alejandro Carrasquilla is a neurosurgical oncologist who is passionate about serving the community through neurosurgery care and advances in research. He was born in Bogota, Colombia but grew up near New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated suma cum laude with a degree in chemical engineering from The University of Alabama prior to his medical studies. He received his medical degree from The University of Pennsylvania and went on to receive broad training at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Following residency, he completed a neurosurgical-oncology fellowship at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, a large Comprehensive Cancer Center, where he learned to tailor surgical solutions for complex pathologies. He cherishes maintaining a wide set of neurosurgical skills and emphasizes safety in operations, tailoring approaches, innovation and applying surgical adjuncts strategically for best outcomes.
