Dr. Sasha Howell, MD, MS, is a PGY-5 neurosurgery resident at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her clinical expertise includes minimally invasive spine surgery and spinal deformity correction. Dr. Howell's research focuses on examining the impact of social determinants of health on surgical outcomes in spine surgery, with an emphasis on developing innovative strategies to improve care for underserved populations. She is deeply committed to mentorship and actively supports Women in Neurosurgery (WIN) as a dedicated mentor. Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Howell enjoys spending quality time with her family, exercise, and exploring different wines.
