Resident Physician
University of Pennsylvania, US
I am Ben J. Gu, MD, MS, and I am a neurosurgery resident at the University of Pennsylvania. I grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, where early life experiences drew me to medicine and biomedical science. I attended Yale University for my undergraduate education, where I obtained my BS and MS degrees in molecular biophysics and biochemistry. After college, I attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania, where I fell in love with neurosurgery for its patient population, complexity, and spirit of innovation. In the future, I plan to pursue a career in academic spine surgery with clinical focus in MIS spine and an academic focus in biologic therapies for spinal degeneration.
