Dr. Macki is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon who treats a wide spectrum of spinal disorders, from degenerative diseases and complex deformities to spine oncology and traumatic injuries. He focuses on minimally-invasive surgery (MIS) to address a variety of neck and back conditions. Dr Macki marries his MIS expertise with innovative technologies, including robotic and advanced navigation surgery. He has also developed a niche in motion-preservation surgery, which obviates the need for fusion in selected individuals with an active lifestyle. All of these leading options ensure that patients undergo treatments with cutting-edge techniques.
Specializing in minimally-invasive approaches to address complex spinal pathologies, Dr. Macki translates his unique skillset into enhanced postoperative recovery and patient-reported outcomes. Dr. Macki prides himself on exceptional patient care, which begins with a comprehensive work up in the clinic, a meticulous surgical plan curated to patient symptoms matched with image findings, and ends with comprehensive postoperative attention.
Patient-care is continuously modified and improved through Dr. Macki’s active research in spine surgery. With a commitment to scientific distinction, Dr. Macki completed a Masters of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in epidemiology and biostatistics at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. His MPH has facilitated his academic productivity, including over 100 peer-reviewed publications, hundreds of abstracts, and countless book chapters. Dr. Macki is actively involved in organized neurosurgery and spine surgery societies alike, and he serves as an editor of numerous journals.
